About Local SEO · GBP Optimization · kitchen design services
Kitchen Design Services came to me with a problem I see constantly in local service businesses — exceptional offline work that was completely invisible in Google search. Despite years of quality kitchen remodeling projects in San Jose, their digital presence was actively working against them. I worked with them on local SEO and GBP optimization, and rebuilt the trust layer that had been holding them back.

About the Client

Kitchen Design Services (KDS) is a San Jose-based residential design firm specializing in kitchen remodeling, space planning, and custom cabinetry. They also offer online consulting services for homeowners across the US. They had built a strong local reputation through referrals and repeat work over several years. Despite this, their digital footprint hadn’t kept pace — their Google presence underrepresented what they actually offered, and they were losing visibility to weaker competitors.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS

The Challenge

The core problem was a broken trust layer. Their Google Business Profile was incomplete — missing categories, service descriptions, and geo-signals specific to San Jose. Their backlink profile had accumulated spammy links from unrelated sites that were suppressing domain trust. Reviews were inconsistent: unverified feedback sat on the profile unmanaged, and mixed signals were eroding the trust metrics Google uses for local rankings. High-intent local customers searching for kitchen remodeling were finding competitors first — even competitors doing lesser work.

Even though the business had strong design expertise, its online presence was holding it back. Poor backlink quality, unoptimized GBP, and weak review signals were preventing it from reaching high-intent local customers.

What I Did

I started with a full backlink audit and GBP audit to map exactly what was suppressing local rankings. I disavowed the toxic links and replaced them with niche-relevant, high-authority links appropriate for a local home design business. I then rebuilt the Google Business Profile from scratch — correcting categories, writing keyword-rich service descriptions specific to kitchen remodeling in San Jose, and ensuring citation consistency across local directories. The final layer was reputation management: I put a review strategy in place to convert neutral and unverified feedback into genuine positive signals that Google could act on. The entire engagement ran over a 90-day period.
